Do you like to win stuff? Are you a Lake Lover? Join all of us Lake Lovers for the PLX Lake Clean Up for the chance to do both while helping our community at the same time.
The Portage Lakes aren’t just bodies of water. They’re where we boat, fish, swim, hang out, & just generally have a blast out of life...& for some, it’s a place we call home.
But with all that activity, it’s easy for our waterways to be overrun with trash, motor oil, & other wastes...which can really wreck the lake day vibes.
And if we don’t clean up our community...who will?
Whether you have your own boat to come out and help or want to reserve a FREE kayak or Paddle Board, Lake Lovers United: PLX Lake Clean Up, sponsored by The WET Initiative, gives you the chance to have an amazing time kayaking (or boating), getting wet, & making a difference for the PLX community.

What is the WET Initiative & what’s it all about?
The WET Initiative is a non-profit aiming to promote sustainability by providing safe clean water in & around lakes that are often used for recreation. Events like Lake Lovers United: PLX Lake Clean Up are part of our mission to create healthier waterways free from oil pollution, litter, storm drains, & various other pollutants.
We want to empower lakers to take ownership of their community so they can have even more fun getting wet.
Where are we meeting and how do I register?
The event will be held in the Portage Lakes, Ohio. If you are receiving a free kayak, you will be meeting at your designated launch location and will register there. If you are using your own watercraft, refer to the list of registration locations and start there!

When is this event?
The event will be held on Saturday, August 13th, 2022. Mark your calendar now!
When are we meeting?
Registration & Launching will begin at 11 a.m. that morning and continue until 1 p.m.
How long will the event last?
The event will last until 4 p.m. where the party will continue at one of the local establishments (to be announced soon!)
Can I pick up trash by myself or work with a team?
You can participate by yourself or with a team. The important thing is to clean up the lakes and have some fun!
What are the prizes?
We will let you know! HOWEVER, they’re going to be BIG!
Does it cost anything to enter?
Participating is completely free, and so is a kayak if you sign up in time… but we also HIGHLY recommended purchasing a PLX Clean Up Kit after you sign up. It contains everything you need to clean up the lake, plus some other surprises we’ve thrown in.
